Love Espadrilles

'Espadrille' is a French term which is the same in English that derives from 'Espardenya' which in turn derives from the Catalan word 'Esparto', a tough wiry Mediterranean grass used in making rope. This rope, now made of jute, is still the defining characteristic of espadrilles. Espadrilles or 'Alpargatas' in Spanish have been made in Catalonia since at least the 14th century. What began then as a peasant shoe, has become fashionable footwear, lovingly made by devoted factories and companies, lovingly worn by all ages all over the world.
